Chitral returns to normalcy after terrorist attack

Locals support army as they honour fallen soldiers

CHITRAL:

The situation in the Chitral district has returned to a state of normalcy after Pakistan’s armed forces successfully repelled a cross-border attack on Frontier Corps checkposts on September 6th.

This incident showcased the resilience and unity of the local population in supporting the military’s efforts to maintain peace and security in the region. Deputy Commissioner Chitral, Muhammad Ali Khan, reassured the public in a video message that the district was now completely under control, emphasizing the unwavering support of the local residents for the army.

He stated that the people of Chitral stood united against any form of terrorism and were determined to maintain the peace and tranquility of their beloved region.

The DC also highlighted the return to normalcy in Chitral, with all educational institutions, including schools and colleges, resuming their activities. Marketplaces were bustling with life.

He further explained that the terrorists involved in the attack had been effectively repelled and pushed back into Afghanistan.

To bolster security in the area, additional police contingents had been deployed, and joint check posts had been established. The support from the local residents was overwhelming, with the community providing food and assistance in transporting arms and ammunition to the frontline check posts.

What was particularly heartening was the willingness of the locals to stand shoulder to shoulder with the army against any crossborder infiltrators. The DC noted that they were ready to fight alongside the military to safeguard their homeland.

In a significant display of solidarity, a Jirga of local elders had recently met with the FC wing commander, pledging full support from the local population. They made a resolute commitment that terrorists associated with TTP (Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan) would not be permitted to infiltrate the district and disrupt the peace of Lower and Upper Chitral.
