Open forums, seminars to be held across the province to raise awareness about human rights

KARACHI:

The caretaker government of Sindh, on Tuesday, announced its decision to organise open forums (katchehris) and seminars throughout the province to raise awareness about human rights.

In this regard, a meeting was held at the office of the Secretary of the HR department, chaired by the caretaker Minister for Law & Human Rights, Muhammad Umar Soomro. Secretary Javeed Sibghatullah Mahar and other officials were also present at the meeting, where they provided updates to the caretaker minister.

Soomro said that the goal is to ensure that people receive essential information regarding human rights. He encouraged the active involvement of NGOs dedicated to human rights causes.

Furthermore, the minister directed the provision of HR training to the students, lawyers, and police personnel.

He urged HR department officials to visit every Sindh district.

Soomro also directed to promptly forward the complaints related to the human rights to the relevant departments and take appropriate action.
