ISLAMABAD:

The Islamabad High Court (IHC) ordered the authorities concerned to inform the court before arresting human rights lawyer Imaan Zainab Mazari-Hazir in any case.

Mazari and former lawmaker Ali Wazir were arrested earlier this month in two cases lodged at the Tarnol police station and Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) police station of Islamabad, two days after addressing a public meeting organised by the Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM).

Mazari received bail in the sedition case but was re-arrested within hours by the Islamabad police in connection with a freshly filed terrorism case.

An Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) had handed her over to police on a three-day physical remand on the next day. She was released on bail on Saturday.

On Monday, IHC Justice Miangul Hassan Aurangzeb heard Mazari’s plea seeking details of the first information reports (FIRs) registered against her and protective bail.

Justice Aurangzeb disposed of the case, directing that if there was any other FIR against her the court should be informed.
