Police said that the sister of a landlord who had been murdered in the area sometime back “turned out to be the killer of her elder brother”.
Meanwhile, in Multan police arrested a man on the charges of killing his father.
As far as the Pakpattan incident is concerned, police alleged that the woman had killed her elder brother with the help of an employee. Police arrested the woman and the co-accused and claimed to have recovered the murder weapon as well.
DPO Tariq Wilayat had formed a team to investigate into the murder of 50-year-old Basheer Ahmed, a landlord, who lived in Chanot within the limits of Malka Hans Police Station.
The SHO of Malka Hans Police Station, Malik Faisal Hussain, said the police had detained the deceased’s sister and their employee Ashraf “over their suspicious activities during the investigation”.
Police alleged that the sister of the deceased had been in love with Ashraf and wanted to marry him, but she considered her elder brother a hindrance.
The suspects allegedly killed Basheer with a sharp instrument to get him out of the way.
A brother of Basheer Ahmed told the police that on the fateful day, Basheer had gone to Mian Ghafoor’s tube well in the village at night but did not return home until morning.
He said that he went to search for his brother and found his body at Mian Ghafoor’s tube well.
He said that his brother had been killed with a sharp instrument.
Police had retrieved the body from the crime scene, had it shifted to a hospital for the postmortem examination and opened their investigation after registering a case against unknown persons on the complaint of Basheer’s brother.
During the course of the investigation, police’s suspicion fell on Basheer’s sister and employee Ashraf. On the basis of their suspicions, police detained the suspects and interrogated them. Police claimed that the suspects had “confessed to the crime” and the murder weapon had also been recovered.
Gujrat incident
Police claimed that the murderer of a 70-year-old labourer in Gujrat was his own son.
Muhammad Hussain, a resident of the village Hande, within the limits of Khurrianwala Police Station, was stabbed to death on the night between August 18 and 19 while he had been sleeping in a rice field. He was there supposedly to protect a water pump from being stolen, but somehow he had dosed off.
Police had registered a case against unknown persons on the complaint by the deceased’s 45-year-old son, Shahid Hussain.
The DPO of Gujrat, Ahmed Nawaz Shah, had formed a special team to investigate into the murder case. The team had traced the suspect within three days.
Police arrested Shahid Hussain just after he had finished his father’s last rites. Police interrogated the suspect.
Police claimed that the suspect “confessed to the crime” and said that he had made a plan and forced his father to go to the fields for guarding the water pump and later killed his father in the fields.
SHO Adnan Tarar said the suspect was a happy-go-lucky kind of person who worked only occasionally only to get money enough to last a few days and then he looked for work again.
Police alleged the suspect killed his father because the latter had rejected his son’s demand to sell land so that he (Shahid) could buy a rickshaw.
He became the plaintiff himself and started searching for the accused in collaboration with the police.
Police alleged he had been seen smoking and strolling in the fields late at night a few moments before the incident, but he allegedly made a contrary statement to the police, on which the police had started closely monitoring him and on confirmation arrested him on the instructions of the officers.
