It is no secret that popular Pakistani film and television actor Saud Qasmi has been part of the local entertainment scene for several years.

He recently starred in fan-favourite, Baby Baji, with his wife, Javeria Saud. Saud recently sat with podcast host Nadir Ali to discuss the sensational hit serial along with his relationship with distant family relatives Indian star Nawazuddin Siddiqui and cricketer Usman Tariq.

The Yeh Zindagi Hai actor sat with the host to discuss the reasons behind his latest television serial’s undeniable success. The family drama series stars other celebrated names in the industry like Samina Ahmad, Munawar Saeed, Junaid Jamahed Niazi, Sunita Marshall, Hassan Ahmed, Fazal Hussain, Syeda Tuba Anwar and Aina Asif.

When asked about what exactly attributed to the success of the show, Saud was determined that a lot of what went into it was the right niyatein (intentions) behind the production of the show by the whole team along with a great deal of blessings. He said, “Plenty of people have been doing and continue to do this work. Who God wills to bless with success is His decision.”

The actor also took time to credit the writer, Mansoor Ahmed Khan, as well as recognized that big channels come with their own audience which the program benefitted off of. However, perhaps the most awaited hook that the Ishq Positive actor delivered came moments later when he hinted at the possibility of a second season.

While speaking of the final episode, the actor stated, “There was a lot that was left during the ending; perhaps we might pick it up in season two.”

Besides his hit serial, Saud also took the time to explain an unexpected relationship with family relatives Nawazuddin and Usman Khwaja. The Indian is apparently related to the local film star. “My brother from my aunt’s side, Mansoor – who is from India – is married to his [Nawazuddin’s] sister,” he revealed.

The Gunnah actor also disclosed that he had known the Australian cricketer since Usman was young. Thinking back to his days in Islamabad, Qasmi reminisced, “He used to play tennis with us – he is the child of my sister-in-law’s sister.”
