Police given one-day transit remand of Haleem

The Judicial Magistrate East has handed over Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Haleem Adil Sheikh to the Mobina Town police on a one-day transit remand, while the local court of District South granted bail to the accused in a case registered with the Preedy police station.
The police had arrested Haleem Adil Sheikh in the case filed at the Mobina Town police station from the Karachi City Court. The Tehreek-e-Insaf leader was brought before the court for remand by the Preedy police.
The defence lawyer contended that Haleem was arrested despite getting bail from the Peshawar High Court (PHC). This case wasn't on the list that IG Sindh presented to the court.
The PHC judge's ruling does not apply to this case because it is a separate case, the judge commented.
The Investigating Officer (IO) advised that transit remand should be granted and that we must produce the accused before the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC). A one-day transit remand was granted by the court.
The court ordered Haleem Adil Sheikh to appear before the concerned court on Saturday.
In another plea, the court of Judicial Magistrate South rejected the Preedy police remand request of Haleem Adil Sheikh. The court granted bail to Haleem against the surety of Rs20,000.
Haleem Adil Sheikh should be released if not wanted in any other cases, the court stated.
Later, while talking informally to the media in the court premises, the PTI leader stated, "It is a drama being played."
He further said he was arrested against the law at the door of the High Court. After the attorneys requested an arrest warrant, a case of interfering with the government work was made. Police claim we are clueless, and subsequently, they receive directions on what to do.
The general public has been buffeted with inflation bombs by the caretaker government. Electricity and flour prices have become unaffordable, and petrol has surpassed Rs300 per litre. We are here to defend the general public. Traders support the strike, and we support them.
