At least six people, including a woman, suffered minor injuries when a passenger bus overturned on the NIPA Bridge in Gulshan-e-Iqbal on Thursday.
The driver of the G11 route bus lost control of the vehicle after its tyre burst. The bus veered sideways, collided with the sidewall of the bridge and overturned.
Luckily, no one in the bus was seriously injured and they all came out by themselves.
After being informed of the incident, Edhi and Chippa rescue workers reached the spot to help the accident victims sitting dazed in the sidewalk.
The flow of the traffic was disturbed for a brief time, however, the traffic police called in a tow-truck to move the bus aside and clear the road.
Later, the bus was shifted to Aziz Bhatti police station with the help of a crane.
According to the traffic police officer Moin Sheikh, the accident happened was a result of a tyre burst and the driver could not maintain balance of the vehicle.
The driver and conductor of the bus fled from the scene soon after the incident but a case under the provision of negligence, speeding and carelessness has been registered against them.
Police started a search operation to them.
