HEC, Russian atomic energy commission discuss cooperation

Rosatom to collaborate with Pakistani autorities in the field of renewable energy, and photovoltaic

KARACHI:

The second consultation meeting between Sindh Higher Education Commission (HEC) and the Russian State atomic energy corporation 'Rosatom', held on Wednesday, focused on the possible avenues in the field of renewable energy, inter-university collaboration and train-the-trainers courses and scholarships.

Chairperson Sindh HEC, Prof Dr SM Tariq Rafi apprised the gathering about the importance of fostering such collaborative efforts between universities in Pakistan and Russia.

Speaking on the occasion, he said, "Such collaborative initiatives will help universities become acquainted with their strengths, identify areas of improvement and drive excellence in academia. It is a collective effort of the Sindh HEC and Rosatom towards creating a multidisciplinary higher education landscape in Pakistan."

Counsellor Natalia Kudryashova, representing Rosatom at the meeting, said, "This collaboration reflects our commitment to academic precision, research, emerging trends in the field of renewable energy, and photovoltaic."

A few universities from public and private sectors in Sindh were asked to nominate experts of renewable energy to participate in the virtual meeting.
