Indian celebrity Rakhi Sawant is causing quite a storm on social media lately as she documents and shares her spiritual journey to Makkah and Medina on social media. As per her latest update, she has successfully performed Umrah, the Islamic pilgrimage, along with her brother, Waahiid Ali Khan and his wife, Shaista Ali Khan.

Rakhi first broke the news of her religious undertaking a few days ago with a video on her Instagram profile in which she could be seen wearing a hijab and modest clothing as she announced the fact that she had been called to the house of God. In the video, she expressed her joy at the prospect of going to Umrah, saying that she was very blessed to be given this opportunity.

She also said that she would pray for everyone and also requested people to pray for her. While some praised her for fulfilling this important rite of being Muslim, many criticised her in light of her past and questioned her faith. The controversial public figure converted to Islam when she married her now-estranged husband, Adil Khan Durrani, in 2022. She also allegedly adopted the Islamic name Fatima for herself, but her usernames on social media remain unchanged.

After posting the video from her flight en route to Saudi Arabia, Rakhi has posted a few more videos and pictures from her journey to the holy cities. One of the first posts she made from there was a reel of her in Medina, touching and embracing one of the many gates of the Holy Prophet’s (PBUH) mosque.

Another video showed her and her companions performing tawaf around the Kaaba. Her announcement that she had completed Umrah came via a picture in which Rakhi, her brother, and her sister-in-law could be seen standing in front of the Holy Kaaba.
