RAWALPINDI:

A ninth-grade female student was allegedly subjected to physical torture by her teacher at a government school in Rawalpindi on Saturday.

According to sources, Alishba Bashir, a student in ninth-grade, sustained injuries to her head as a result of physical torture by Khalida Rehan at Government Girls High School Muslim Town in the garrison city.

They said the teacher allegedly tortured the student for failing to correct mistakes in her homework.

On the other hand, the Department of Education initiated an internal investigation against the teacher.

Talking to the media, Muhammad Bashir, the student’s father, expressed his concern about the violence inflicted on his daughter. He stated that the teacher physically abused his daughter with sticks for incorrect homework.

In response, the school administration labelled the teacher responsible as mentally disturbed.

They said the incident was currently under investigation and appropriate measures were being taken while departmental action has been initiated against the teacher.

When contacted, the police officials said the parents of the injured student did not file a complaint with the police station. “If they choose to report the incident, appropriate legal action will be taken based on their complaint,” they said.
