DIR UPPER/QUETTA:

Wildlife authorities in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) confiscated a lion cub from a car in Chakdarra, Lower Dir district.

Acting on the directives of the DFO Wildlife Dir Lower, Range Officer Ghufran intercepted a motor vehicle in transit, finding a local resident named Sher Mehmood accompanied by the lion cub.

Lacking the necessary documentation to prove ownership or transport of such an exotic and endangered animal, Mehmood was detained and the cub was seized by wildlife officials.

According to officials, the accused confessed to acquiring the cub from Peshawar and claimed it was intended as a gift for an officer.

Consequently, an FIR has been lodged against Mehmood under the Wildlife Act 2015. The lion cub has been relocated to the Kanju Zoo in Swat for proper care and management.
