A teenage girl and her boyfriend were gunned down by her father and brother when they came home at 6 am on Friday after a night out.
The incident took place in the vicinity of Abul Hasan Isfahani Road within the limits of Sachal Police Station.
Dr Rafiq Shaikh and his son Abdullah surrendered to the law and admitted to fatally shooting 17-year-old daughter, Laraib, and her boyfriend, Hassan. The tragic incident transpired in Bhakkar Goth, proximate to Abul Hasan Isfahani Road and fell within the jurisdiction of Sachal Police Station.
According to the police report, the incident took place as Laraib's friend Hassan came to drop her off near her residence in a Vigo jeep, around 6 am on a Friday. Her father and brother noticed their presence and hastily retrieved a firearm from their residence.
Without restraint, they opened fire on the Vigo jeep, resulting in Hassan's immediate demise. While Laraib was left severely injured, her father opted to take her back home rather than seeking medical aid. Laraib succumbed to her injuries due to excessive bleeding.
Following the killings, Dr Shaikh and his son went to the police station with the murder weapons, explained what had happened and surrendered themselves to the law. They were subsequently taken into custody.
Dr Shaikh told the police in his statment that he holds a position as a grade 19 officer at Qatar Hospital, a state-run tertiary healthcare facility in Orangi Town.
Dr Sahikh stated that he had expressed concerns about his daughter's relationship with Hassan, as he frequently visited her during late hours. Feeling unsatisfied with his daughter's response, Dr Shaikh and his son confronted Laraib and Hassan when they noticed the Vigo jeep entering their street.
Tragically, they resorted to gunfire, leading to the young couple's demise. Police seized two 9mm pistols from Dr Shaikh and his son, which are currently undergoing verification for their licenses.
The deceased, Hassan, was a resident of Gulshan Iqbal. The police are continuing their investigation into the matter.
