Protestors threaten to continue protest until the arrest of an Muhammad Mahar's killers

A large number of journalists from Sukkur, Khairpur, Shikarpur, Ghotki, and Nosheroferoz gathered in front of DIG Office Sukkur on Tuesday to demand immediate arrest of the killers of senior journalist Jan Muhammad Mahar.

The protest call given by Sindhi Television Network was supported by Sukkur Union of Journalists, Pakistan Union of Journalists (PFUJ) in collaboration with Sukkur Press Club.

The protestors described the fatal attack on Mahar as a failure of Sukkur police and vowed to continue the protest until the arrest of his killers.

Journalists and other media persons took out a rally from the Sukkur Press Club and assembled at the DIG office to hold a demonstration. Speaking to the participants, PFUJ Finance Secretary, Lala Asad Pathan strongly condemned Mahar's murder and urged the interim  chief minister and IG Sindh to ensure the arrest of the killers to end the unrest prevailing in the entire journalist community in the province.

Mahar, was shot dead in an armed attack by unidentified assailants in the Sukkur district late in the night on August 13 when he was leaving his office.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the media fraternity of the country.
