Money comes to you, do not chase money: Fahad Mustafa

Over the course of his career, the star has given conflicting interviews about the same

In a recent appearance on a talk show, acclaimed Pakistani actor and television personality, Fahad Mustafa, candidly discussed his views on money and passion. When asked by a fan about where he earns the most—TV acting, movie acting, or hosting—Fahad responded that he never prioritises money, emphasising his focus on passion and interest. He stated, "Money comes to you, do not chase money," as reported by a local publication.

While Fahad is now known for his diverse talents, he earlier revealed on The Mirza Malik Show in the past that despite his fame and numerous projects, he struggled financially. He confessed that he turned to hosting to boost his income, mentioning that his acting roles were not generating enough money. "I switched to hosting because I wanted to make money. I had been acting for quite some time, people knew who I was. I had a name but I wasn't making enough. Hosting changed many things for me," he noted, highlighting the impact hosting had on his financial situation.

Addressing his commitment to his craft after Shoaib Malik said he would have never guessed hosting wasn't the star's passion, Fahad slyly said, "That is the art, my love. I’m an actor. My energy on set never goes down because the money never comes down." While he acknowledged his initial move towards hosting for monetary reasons, he also acknowledged the role that talk shows played in elevating his profile, even surpassing the recognition of his blockbuster films.

During the same show, Fahad touched upon the changing dynamics of the industry and the impact of social media. He expressed concern over the shift towards quick monetary gains and a decline in the appreciation for the art and effort that quality productions demand. “There’s so much choice now," said the Quaid-e-Azam Zindabad star. "People can make money on Instagram, and TikTok too. They say no to films because they only care about quick money. I think people have stopped enjoying the craft and the time it requires to bring quality. They’re doing it for different reasons, not for the love of stardom and your work,” he said.

In an earlier interview with Something Haute, Fahad openly confessed, "And why would anyone want to do any project for free? Why would the actors and the technicians be okay with not being paid and having all that money poured into the production? Don’t they want to make money? I will be honest I came into the industry to make money and I have no shame in admitting that."

Fahad's successful production company, Big Bang Entertainment, has become a cornerstone of his career. He proudly declared that he earns all his money through it, noting its popularity among actors, audiences, and channels alike. In defence of his produced dramas, Fahad raised a thought-provoking question: "Actors want to act in my dramas, the audience wants to watch my dramas, the channels want to air my dramas; so, what am I doing wrong here?"
