The superintendent of Central Jail Rawalpindi, also known as Adiala Jail, has penned down a letter to the District Health Authority (DHA) requesting immediate initiation of anti-dengue spraying and fogging within the jail premises.
The letter was written in response to concerns about the constant proliferation of dengue mosquitoes and venomous bees in the Central Jail, Adiala resulting in the spread of vector-borne disease in inmates. In this regard, the DHA’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has also confirmed receiving the letter from the superintendent for immediate anti-dengue spray in Adiala Jail.
The health department is likely to commence the spraying process within the next three days. Given the expansive dimensions of Adiala Jail, characterised by large rooms and barracks, the spraying operation is anticipated to take two to three days. To facilitate this, a specialised spray team comprising 10 to 15 members will be formed.
Furthermore, a comprehensive strategy has been formulated to administer dengue tests for all inmates and detainees housed within Adiala Jail.
The following week, a contingent of medical professionals, including doctors, nurses and paramedics from the health department, will visit the Central Jail to conduct the requisite dengue testing.
Notably, among these prisoners are children who are accompanied by their mothers. The comprehensive screening of this entire population has been duly sanctioned and is in the process of implementation.
