UET Peshawar launches ‘Golden Tree Campaign’
In honor of Independence Day, a ceremony was held at the University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Peshawar to inaugurate the ‘Golden Tree Plantation Campaign.’
Vice Chancellor Professor Dr Iftikhar Hussain led the proceedings by hoisting the national flag and joining in the singing of the anthem.
Dr Hussain underscored that the free air breathed in Pakistan today is a testament to the sacrifices and relentless endeavors of the nation’s forefathers and leaders.
He emphasized the collective responsibility to cleanse the nation of negativity through unity and harmony, thereby contributing to its advancement.
The event’s momentum continued as Dr Iftikhar Hussain initiated a tree planting initiative by personally planting a sapling at the Engineering University.
This act also marked the inauguration of the ‘Golden Tree Plantation Campaign.’
The gathering was attended by several dignitaries, including Dr Khizar Azam Khan, Registrar of the Engineering University, Professor Dr Misbah Ullah, Treasurer, along with senior faculty members and staff.
On August 9, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa’s (K-P) Caretaker Chief Minister, Muhammad Azam Khan, kick-started the Monsoon Tree Plantation Campaign 2023 with a sapling planted at the Chief Minister’s House lawn in Peshawar.
The campaign aims to plant over 13 million saplings across the province.
The chief minister was informed that the province’s forest area has increased by 6.3% under the 10 billion tree project.
Speaking at the event, he commended Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s forest and wildlife department for their dedicated efforts in promoting tree plantation and preservation.
He emphasized the significance of forests in combatting environmental challenges and urged active public participation to ensure the success of the ongoing plantation drive.
