The United States (US) government has extended its "warmest wishes to the people of Pakistan as they celebrate their Independence Day on August 14" (Monday).
In a statement issued by the US State Department, Secretary of State Antony Blinken wrote, "As we usher in a new year of cooperation, and as Pakistan prepares to hold elections, we look forward to advancing inclusive economic growth, energy security, and promoting peace and regional stability".
"Our support for the country’s economic success remains strong. We share a commitment to democratic principles and respect for the rule of law that will continue to guide our partnership forward," he added.
"The US values our 76-year-old relationship with Pakistan. We look forward to deepening the U.S.-Pakistan partnership to create a more prosperous future for both nations. I wish the people of Pakistan a joyous Independence Day," concluded Blinken.

The relationship between Pakistan and the US has been under scrutiny both domestically and internationally with former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan accusing the global power of conspiring to overthrow his government.
Imran has since backed off from his allegations against the US and placed blame on the former chief of army staff and Pakistan Democratic Movement leaders.
The US has repeatedly denied such allegations but the matter remains under speculation in Pakistan given the tumultous relationship between the two countries.
Meanwhile, outgoing prime minister Shehbaz Sharif has extended his gratitude to the US for its efforts in helping Pakistan secure a $3 billion International Monetary Fund tranche in the nick of time.
