Mayor Murtaza Wahab on Sunday said there is no proposal under consideration to appoint administrators in local bodies’ of Karachi.
Allaying fears of transition officers continuing office as administrators, instead of powers being transferred to elected local government representatives, Wahab assured that, “no such proposal was under consideration.” He expressed these views while inaugurating a newly constructed park in Bhitai Colony, Korangi.
Deputy Mayor Karachi Salman Abdullah Murad, Chairman Korangi Town Municipal Corporation Naeem Sheikh, Director General Parks Junaidullah Khan and other officers and local leaders of PPP were also present on the occasion.
Mayor Wahab said that 75 parks were renovated and opened for the citizens under 100 Parks Project in the Central district.
He said there five towns of the Central district have chairmen from Jamaat-e-Islami and they should take care of these parks.
The cosmopolitan city belongs people of all races, creeds, colours and religions.
Mayor said, “people should doff political differences and celebrate the Independence Day in a manner that our image as a nation can be seen before the world.” Mayor Karachi said that the slogan of Dawat-e- Islami, ‘Plant Saplings, Raise Trees’ was very attractive and “we should plant at least one plant that would grow into a shady tree for our future generations.”
