ISLAMABAD:

On the special directions of Islamabad Capital City Police Officer (ICCPO) Dr Akbar Nasir Khan, in preparation for the Independence Day celebrations, the Islamabad Capital Police rolled out a comprehensive security and traffic plan to ensure the safety and convenience of citizens, a police public relations officer said.

He said a special security arrangement involving over 1,500 police officers has been put in place to maintain peace and order during Independence Day.

Additionally, more than 550 traffic police officials will diligently manage the flow of vehicular movement to guarantee the smooth passage of traffic in the federal capital.

ICCPO Dr Akbar Nasir Khan expressed the commitment of the Islamabad Capital Police to ensuring the highest standards of safety and order during this important national occasion.

“Senior officers will be actively present in the field, overseeing law enforcement and traffic management operations,” he stated. In order to prevent any disturbances to the celebrations, special pickets will be established, and heightened security will be maintained in key areas.

As part of the proactive security measures, specialised units including the CTD Commandos and the Dolphin Force will be conducting mobile patrols to ensure the safety of citizens and visitors. Additionally, special teams have been deployed to patrol parks and public spaces to create a secure environment for families.

CPO/DIG Operations Syed Shehzad Nadeem Bukhari said the Islamabad Capital Police is unwavering in its commitment to curbing lawlessness and criminal activities.

Stringent actions will be taken against those attempting to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere of the city.

“We will not tolerate any violations of the law and order at any point. Swift and effective measures will be taken against lawbreakers,” he stated.

Citizens are also requested to cooperate with the police and report any suspicious thing or activity at the nearest police stations or the “Pukar 15” helpline.
