Sindh IG says eliminating drug-related activities, organised crimes top priority

The Inspector General of Sindh Police, Ghulam Nabi Memon at a high-level meeting comprehensively reviewed the law and order situation. The meeting also discussed the menace of drugs, gutka, and mawa. Subsequent directives were issued.

The Additional IG of the Special Branch presented an overview of the compiled list of drug dealers and the rapid response strategy for addressing gutka and mawa issues.

The IG acknowledged the remarkable performance of the task force in the initial phase, which received accolades from the court, Sindh government, and the public. Particularly, the Special Branch displayed proactive measures against narcotics, gutka, and mawa.

Emphasising the need for a province-wide crackdown on drug dealers, the IG said that eliminating drug-related activities and organised crimes should be the priority.

He urged the task force and Special Branch to work effectively and systematically and also encourage local police to take actions against drugs, gutka, and mawa.

Highlighting the significance of SSP offices and police stations, the IG Sindh urged them to root out crime and organise unlawful activities.

IG Sindh emphasised that designated investigating officers should play their roles to ensure an uninterrupted investigative process.
