Youth gunned down over land dispute

Police say suspect is victim’s paternal uncle

An 18-year-old youth lost his life due to a fatal shooting carried out by his own uncle over a land dispute in the Mohra Phal area within the jurisdiction of the Jatli police station.

According to a spokesperson for the police, the uncle, who committed the act, also sustained injuries during the incident.

The suspects responsible for the shooting managed to escape before police personnel arrived at the scene, he said. The victim, identified as Abdul Rafa, was engaged in plowing a field when his uncle, along with an accomplice, opened fire, killing him on the spot.

Raheel, the victim's uncle, was also injured. The spokesperson also said the police arrived at the scene and collected evidence. The body of the deceased has been transferred to Gujar Khan Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem. The police have taken action by registering cases of murder and attempted murder against the accused parties.

He further said raids are currently under way to apprehend the suspects at large.
