MUZAFFARGARH:

A retired Station Master and a group of 15 unidentified individuals have been formally charged for allegedly assaulting a Railway police constable.

According to the First Information Report (FIR), the incident transpired when a crowd of approximately 15 to 20 people attacked Mohammed Ashraf, a Railway police constable, who was on patrolling duty alongside his fellow constable Qurbaan Ali at Mahmood Kot Railways Station.

The constable's account, provided to the police, indicates that the accused caught two thieves red-handed attempting to steal iron plates at the station.

The mob then urged Mohammed Ashraf to take the apprehended thieves to the Railways Police Station, rather than the local police station.

Upon his refusal, the group, including the retired Station Master, reportedly subjected the constable to physical abuse.

During the altercation, the constable's uniform was torn, as detailed in the FIR. The Mahmood Court police station registered the case and has initiated an investigation into the matter.
