The Supreme Court has fixed important cases for hearing next week.
The bail application of former Punjab chief minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi as well as the contempt of court case against Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Ahsan Iqbal will be heard.
According to details, the Supreme Court has fixed Aug 16 for hearing Elahi's bail application.
A three-member bench, headed by Justice Ijazul Ahsan and comprising Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhail and Justice Shahid Waheed, will hold the hearing. Elahi has requested the Supreme Court to annul the decision of the division bench of the Lahore High Court taken on July 17.

Similarly, the contempt of court petition against Iqbal has also been scheduled for hearing. A division bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial and comprising Justice Mazahar Ali Akbar Naqvi, will hear it on Aug 15. A contempt of court petition was filed in the Supreme Court on the basis of anti-judiciary speeches in 2018.
Further, PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s appeal against recounting of votes in the National Assembly Constituency NA-131 has also been scheduled for hearing.
A division bench, headed by Chief Justice Bandial will hear it next week.
