Kubra Khan and Gohar Rasheed to star together after 8 years of friendship

Actors will be seen as an on screen pairing for the first time in Geo Entertainment’s ‘Jannat Se Aagay’

Kubra Khan and Gohar Rasheed have been close friends for almost a decade now and, despite being contemporaries in the Pakistani drama and film industry, it is only now that they are starring together in a drama serial.

On July 26, Kubra took to her Instagram to unveil her newest project titled Jannat Se Aagay, which will air on a local TV channel starting August 11. The project will see the actor play a television star named Jannat Ali Khan that Ramsha Khan’s character Tabassum idolises. From the teasers and trailers of the drama, it is clear that Gohar Rasheed will be playing the role of Kubra’s partner and husband.

Gohar also shared a poster of the drama on his Instagram, which featured both him and Kubra alongside the title and release date of the play. Underneath the post, Kubra commented: “Finally on screen together! Only took us 8 years to star opposite each other. Best of luck, G.”. To this, Gohar responded by saying “Finally! The multiple promotional teasers for the drama reveal a strong meta element to the storyline with several scenes showing Kubra hosting a live-audience morning show within the drama, complete with the theatrics and sensationalism that have come to define morning talk shows. An exploration of toxic trends within the entertainment industry, such as the sensationlisation of tragedies and the public humiliation of guests for higher ratings may be a potential subplot of the drama.

Jannat and Tabassum’s storylines will be the main focus, running parallel to each other until they eventually converge. The drama has been described on social media as a tale of extreme admiration and the consequences one ends up facing when they idolize someone to the highest degree.

While Jannat’s life as a famous television personality is bound to be chaotic, the promotional material also shows that there will be significant conflict between her and Gohar Rasheed’s character. It appears as though he will fulfill the role of an ordinary man who gets pulled into Jannat’s whirlwind life and then struggles to cope with her very public image, while trying to keep their relationship from breaking down.
