The Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) and the All Pakistan Marble Industries Association (APMIA) have entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the aim of modernizing and promoting the marble and mining sector.
The agreement, signed during a ceremony at the SCCI’s headquarters, seeks to address challenges faced by individuals in the marble sector, promote joint research, and enhance the industry’s economic contribution.
Ijaz Khan Afridi, the acting president of SCCI, and Muhammad Asghar Khan, Chairman of APMIA, formalized the partnership. The event was attended by notable members of both organizations, including Shafiullah, Ahmad Shah, Zafar Ali Khan Kundi, and Pervaiz Khattak from the chamber’s Executive Committee. Representatives from the chamber’s research and development cell were also present.
Muhammad Asghar highlighted the pivotal role of the marble sector in economic development, contributing significantly to foreign exchange earnings through exports. He emphasized the challenges faced by individuals associated with the marble sector, particularly in adopting modern mining techniques due to financial constraints.
During the ceremony, the APMIA chairman put forth various proposals to advance the marble sector.
