In response to a longstanding demand of devotees, the main gate of Darbar Hazrat Mian Mir, which had remained closed for 13 years, has finally been reopened.
The authorities have designated a separate area for women at the shrine to ensure their comfort and privacy during their visits.
Punjab Auqaf Secretary Dr Tahir Raza Bukhari told the media during his visit to the Darbar that the ongoing restoration work, including the decoration of a Bara Dari, would be completed expeditiously.
The preparation of a feasibility report for aLangar Khana kitchen and other construction and development projects has also been initiated.
The secretary emphasised the importance of separate women's area, efficiency of the mosque staff, proper waste disposal and measures to prevent dengue.
He reviewed the cash donation record for July, noting a 56 percent increase in the opening balance compared to the previous year.
The official said the Punjab government had devised a comprehensive action plan to renovate the shrines in the province. The plan includes improving the area, construction, cleanliness, security and other aspects to provide an attractive and comfortable environment for all devotees.
He also issued instructions for the restoration of Madrassa Darunnisa at the Mazar and ensuring a safe, hygienic and clean environment for the visitors.
