Bollywood superstar Deepika Padukone shared a special post on Sunday for International Friendship Day and dedicated it to her husband, fellow actor Ranveer Singh.
The exclusively text-based post was not written by Deepika herself, but the message seemed to resonate quite deeply with her, prompting her to share it with her 75.1 M followers on Instagram. With the post, the Pathaan (2023) actor appeared to be encouraging fans to marry people with whom they have a strong bond and stable friendship. “Marry your best friend. I do not say that lightly. Really, truly find the strongest, happiest friendship in the person you fall in love with,” the post read.
Deepika’s post touched upon the beauty of a friendship and how it allows for both humour, joy, intellect, and grief to coexist in a relationship. In this way, friendship between two people culminates in a love-filled bond that is crucial for any marriage to thrive. The post said, “Life is too short not to love someone who lets you be a fool with them. Make sure they are somebody who lets you cry, too”.
The Padmavaat (2018) protagonist’s post also mentioned times when individuals may find themselves in difficult and unhappy circumstances and how crucial it is to have someone be your unwavering support system and source of love and care during that troubling phase of your life: “Despair will come. Find someone that you want to be with you through those times”.
Friendship, the post advocated, is the foundation of true love and a healthy marriage. Both friendship and marriage can make you experience a range of emotions, but what should triumph above all should be that feeling of love and passion. And this feeling of love and passion should never fade and remain consistent between two partners bound in holy matrimony. The post concluded with this final message: “Most importantly, marry the one that makes passion, love, and madness combine and course through you. A love that will never dilute—even when the waters get deep, and dark”.
Deepika simply captioned the post by tagging her on-screen Bajirao Mastani (2015) love interest and real-life husband Ranveer Sing, who replied with an evil-eye emoji, a red heart, and an infinity sign.
The entire post read as Deepika giving an earnest piece of advice to her beloved and doting fans, while also putting up a public yet subtle display of love and appreciation for her husband of almost five years now.
This post comes just a few months after separation rumours of the two began swirling and kept the DeepVeer fandom and media outlets in a state of frenzy for weeks until they eventually died down and got written off as baseless gossip.
