The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday clarified that no final decision had been taken yet to strip PTI Chairman Imran Khan of his party post, maintaining that the matter would be decided after legal consultations.
A meeting of the election supervisor was held under chairmanship of Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja, which was attended by its officials and members.
During the meeting, attendees assessed the aftermath of the court's ruling on the PTI chief's sentencing in the Toshakhana reference. The discussion also centered around the legal permissibility of his continued role as party chairman following the conviction.
The electoral oversight body noted that no final decision had been taken until now to strip the PTI chief of his party position, adding that they would decide the matter after legal consultations.

Meanwhile, the officials were briefed on the results of the digital census. They discussed whether or not new delimitations would be carried out for the upcoming general elections and mulled over the legal and constitutional options in this regard.
The participants of the meeting further discussed the expected delay in the polls based on the new census.
The ECP directed its legal team to provide necessary guidance to the body about the official publication of the census results and for evolving a strategy to deal with the upcoming challenges in the next sitting scheduled to be held on Tuesday (today).
Giving the scrutiny committee another 10 days, the election supervisor directed the body to present its report on foreign funding involving the political parties before it in the next meeting.
