PTI candidate for the tehsil council chairman seat in Mathra Peshawar inflicted a crushing defeat on his opponents, easily clinching the seat with a huge margin on Sunday.
PTI candidate Inam Khan secured 20,333 votes while his closest rival Rafiullah of JUI-F was able to get 13,564 votes only. ANP, PPP and JI failed to match PTI despite their huge election campaigns.
Strict security arrangements had been made for the polling which started 8 o’clock in the morning and continued till 5 in the evening without any interruption.
In the previous election, JUI-F candidate Faridullah stood victorious but the seat fell vacant after his untimely demise.
When the counting started, the initial results showed that PTI was in clear cut lead. Other candidates could not match or come close and when the final unofficial results were announced, it confirmed the PTI’s Inam Khan had secured the seat with a huge margin against his opponents.
JI Iftikahr Arif got 9,546 votes and remained on third position.
The PPP, ANP and PML-N candidates could not compete at all and secured fewer votes compared to the top three candidates.
PTI workers celebrated their victory by staging a rally on Warsak Road.
