RAWALPINDI:

A total of 6,798 vacant posts from scale 1 to 15 in the Punjab higher education and schools education

Departments as well as the Poultry Research Institute (PRI) have been abolished due to the severe financial crisis in the new financial year 2023-24.

Sources said out of the total abolished positions, 3,668 belong to the college education, 1,150 to the PRI and 1,980 belong to the school education.

The sources said that the expenditure of these departments was reduced in the new annual budget due to which all these permanent positions have been abolished to reduce costs.

On the other hand, the daily work of these departments has already started to be negatively affected by the abolition of these positions.

The last recruitments were carried out in 2009 across Punjab while no new recruitments have been made on permanent positions from 2010 till date.

In District Rawalpindi, 20 seats have been abolished in the PRI, 240 in the higher education department and 187 in the school education department. Earlier, the government had eliminated 29,692 vacant seats of scale 4 employees in all provincial & public institutions.
