Deputy Postmaster General Northern Punjab Arshad Khan has said the historic buildings of Pakistan Post are our national heritage, therefore, special attention is being paid to preserving them in their original form.

He was speaking on the sidelines of a visit to Rawalpindi GPO the other day. Chief Postmaster Ayesha Komal, senior postmasters and other officers were present on the occasion.

While reviewing the recent construction and repair work. He said the main building of Rawalpindi GPO was constructed in 1887 which is a masterpiece of British architecture. Despite the passage of 136 years, the exterior features of the old building have been preserved due to the keen interest of the public, especially tourists from across the world.

Referring to the old buildings of Murree and Lahore GPOs, he said that the buildings of Lahore and Rawalpindi GPOs are of the same age, while the building of Murree GPO is more than 150 years old.

Khan said that faster distribution of mail is their top priority and the entire administration is focused on it. To ensure this, a large number of motorcycles have been distributed to postmen and delivery agents across the country.

Moroever, Rawalpindi GPO’s delivery hall was renovated to improve the quality of mail.
