The brief session of the Sindh Assembly on Wednesday welcomed the first woman Leader of the Opposition, Rana Ansar, who assumed the charge on Wednesday.

As the session started with Deputy Speaker Rehana Leghari in the chair, the lawmakers belonging to the treasury and opposition congratulated Rana Ansar who belongs to Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) for being the first woman to lead opposition benches in the assembly.

"The Pakistan People's Party supports and welcomes Rana Ansar in the house and hopes that she will play pivotal role while taking up the issues confronted by the people living in the province," Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Excise and Taxation Mukesh Kumar Chawla said requesting the speaker to adjourn the session till Thursday (today) as the cabinet meeting was scheduled.

"Since most of the ministers and special assistants would be in the meeting, I request to adjourn the session to meet tomorrow," he said. After his request, the session was adjourned.
