CEC asserts zero tolerance for negligence in polls
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja on Monday made it clear that there would be zero tolerance for any negligence concerning the preparations for the upcoming elections.
The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) conducted a review meeting to assess the progress of the preparations for the general elections.
The CEC presided over the meeting, which was attended by members from all provinces, as well as Election Commission Secretary Umar Hameed and other officials.
The meeting involved a comprehensive briefing by DG law and other officials, focusing on the preparations for the general elections.
One key topic discussed was the consideration for releasing the election schedule after the current assembly's term expired and the election of the caretaker prime minister.
The CEC emphasised the importance of swift and meticulous preparations for the elections.
He reiterated that any negligence in this regard would not be tolerated.
Issues related to vote registration and data accuracy were also thoroughly addressed during the review meeting. Further, the measures taken for the preparation of electoral rolls were reviewed in detail.
