Cabinet approves revision of postal tariffs

Tariff aimed to align with prevailing requirements and costs to come into effect today

ISLAMABAD:

The federal cabinet has recently given its approval for the revision of the domestic postal tariff, a decision put forth by the ministry of communications.

The new postal inland tariff, which has been approved, will take effect from August 1. Following the revision, there will be changes in the rates of postage for various categories of mail.

For ordinary postage, which includes items weighing between 20g to 2kg, the charges will range from Rs30 to Rs380, as mentioned in the official notification.

For books, journals, and other documents falling within the weight range of 1g to 2kg, the postal charges will vary from Rs20 to Rs100.

In the case of books weighing between 1g to 7kg, the postage rates will be set between Rs40 to Rs340. For small packets weighing from 1g to 2kg, the revised charges will be between Rs15 to Rs75.

The ministry of communications has ensured that the approved postal inland tariff will be promptly circulated and come into effect from August 1.

These changes aim to better align postal services with prevailing requirements and costs, ensuring efficient and effective mail delivery for the public.
