A man and his wife were killed when their house caved in due to continuous rainfall in the Gandhian village of Haripur.
According to sources, the other family members who were in a separate room during the incident managed to escape unharmed.
Local residents immediately rushed to the scene and worked tirelessly to extract the bodies from the rubble. The deceased were then taken to the hospital for medico-legal formalities. After necessary legal procedures, the police handed over the bodies to the heirs for burial and initiated a preliminary investigation into the incident.
On the other hand, heavy rains caused landslides that blocked various main and link roads in Haripur, disrupting traffic.
The walls of some mud houses suffered damage due to the landslides, but fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Locals of Union Council Bait requested elected representatives and Haripur deputy commissioner to send revenue department officials to assess the extent of damage, provide emergency relief funds to those in need, and send heavy machinery to clear the roads.
Due to the blockage of roads, residents are facing hardships in accessing essential services. They have urged officials to clear the roads at the earliest.
