Babusar crash victims laid to rest
Eight members of a family killed in a van accident near Babusar Top on Friday arrived in Nawab Town in Sahiwal and their funeral prayers were offered in the Masjid-e-Shuhada.
After the funeral, six of the victim were buried in their native village 178/9L, while two were laid to rest in 139/9L. A large number of local people, including political and social personalities participated in the funeral prayers.
The head of the family, Zafar Joya, said his son, two brothers, three nephews, a niece and sister-in-law had died in the accident. They were identified as Sarfaraz, his wife Nadia, daughter Anabiya, Mohammad Irfan and his sons Saqib, Waqas and Talha, along with Zafar's son Saeed.
The injured include Rida, Urooj Atiya, Amina, Ayesha Maryam, Zeenat and Zahid.
Meanwhile, eight other people injured in the accident, who had been under treatment in a hospital in Chilas, were brought to a private hospital in Sahiwal.
According to local residents, 17 members of the family of cable television operator Zafar Joya had gone for a trip to the northern region where the van met with an accident.
They said the vehicle used to ply the route between Sahiwal and Chichawatni and the driver apparently had not driven on the mountainous roads earlier.
