Amir Khan says he was 'provoked' by women who slipped into his DMs in an apology to Faryal Makhdoom

In a shocking revelation, British boxing icon Amir Khan took to his social media to issue a public apology to his wife, Faryal Makhdoom, amid rumours of their separation after a decade of marriage. Khan admitted to wrongdoing and expressed remorse for any pain he may have caused.

While offering an explanation for his actions, he stated that his infidelity was motivated by women who initiated contact with him through direct messages on social media platforms. Although he did not elaborate further on the nature of these interactions, Khan implied that he felt "provoked" into making poor choices.

Taking to his Instagram Stories on Friday, he wrote, “I spoke to The Sun and yes, I put my hands up. I did wrong and apologise to Faryal Makhdoom. She's not the one to blame. I thank her for the help she got me. I like to apologise to those who I may have hurt. I made a mistake and I was provoked when they slip into my DMs.”

Despite Khan's public apology, the media has been buzzing with reports of the couple's separation. Makhdoom took to her own IG Stories yesterday to write, "Fall in love with someone who doesn't make you think love is hard."

According to the Daily Mail, Khan and Makhdoom are living apart, dividing their time between their homes in Dubai and Britain while Faryal decides whether she wants to end their 10-year marriage. The couple has not yet filed for divorce, but sources close to the duo reveal that Makhdoom is going through a challenging period, focusing on her role as a mother to their three children.

"Faryal is taking time to think about whether or not to walk away," a source told the tabloid. "She’s going through a very difficult time and choosing to focus on her children while she and Amir continue to co-parent." The couple shares three children: daughters Lamaisah and Alayna, and a son named Muhammad.

Khan’s tumultuous marriage to the mother of his three children is said to have been on the rocks since the sportsman approached bridal model Sumaira online and eventually asked her to send raunchy pictures. The athlete came clean on the incident and admitted he makes mistakes when he gets bored. "Maybe I do need help to stop me from messaging other women," he admitted.

"I am willing to go to ­therapy to stop me sending texts to women who aren’t my wife. I think nowadays with mental health issues, any help goes a long way. It’s definitely something I would do. Things like that do help, so maybe it’s something to think about."
