The Sindh police chief has formed a committee to probe into the tragic murder of PTI MPA Aslam Abro's brother and nephew who were shot dead in DHA on Wednesday.
DIG South Karachi Range Irfan Ali Baloch will head the committee which comprises a team of highly experienced police officers from Karachi and Jacobabad, as well as seasoned CTD officers.
The dreadful attack unfolded near Ayesha Mosque in DHA, Phase-7, where assailants struck, resulting in the death of Akram Abro, brother of MPA Aslam Abro, and Shaheryar Afridi, his nephew.
The assault also left two persons, Irshad Ali and Abdullah, injured in their double cabin vehicle.
The probe committee also includes SSP South Syed Asad Raza, SSP District Jacobabad Sameer Noor Channa, SP Investigation South Abrez Ali, In-charge CTD Umar Khatab, SDPO DHA Asghar Pathan, SIO DHA, and In-charge IT Section Jacobabad Oshfat Awan.
The deceased originally hailed from Jacobabad, were residing in Karachi.
The committee will investigate the incident from various angles including business dealings, personal enmity, political affiliation and pending court cases.
CCTV footage Newly-obtained CCTV footage has shed light on the moments that captured a suspicious vehicle and two men on a motorcycle passing by, adding an air of intrigue to the investigation.
Meanwhile, investigators are making efforts to secure additional CCTV footage of the incident.
Although the case for the deadly ambush has yet to be registered, it is expected that the bereaved families will approach police to initiate proceedings after the burial, which is scheduled for Friday (today).
