From his acting debut in Karooron Ka Aadmi to his role in Netflix’s The Crown, the actor has made great waves in his career. Throughout the years, Saeed has garnered recognition for his talent by bagging numerous awards and accolades. Here is a list of six of his most memorable performances in order to commemorate his special day:
1. The Crown
Saeed plays the role of Dr Hasnat Khan - Princess Diana’s love interest - in the fifth season of this critically acclaimed Netflix original. As his first non-fictional character, he found it challenging to portray the real Dr Hasnat Khan as he was, since there is limited information about him, apart from paparazzi photos. That said, he believes it was a significant learning experience and a win for the Pakistani film industry, as he hopes this will open doors for the country and his fellow peers.
2. Ab Tum Ja Sakte Ho
Cast opposite Sania Saeed and Khalida Riyasat, Saeed made his breakthrough performance in this 1996 telefilm by Mehreen Jabbar. The same year he was given the best actor award for his performance as Shaukat.
3. Meray Paas Tum Ho
Perhaps Saeed's arguably most successful role was as Danish in Meray Paas Tum Ho, working alongside two prominent actors - Ayeza Khan and Adnan Siddiqui. Saeed plays the role of Danish, a sincere and devoted husband who faces various challenges and betrayals in his marital life.
The story revolves around themes of love, trust, and betrayal, making it a gripping and emotional drama. Meray Paas Tum Ho had received eight nominations at the 19th Lux Style Awards, winning two of them. Saeed was nominated for the Critics’ Choice and Viewers’ Choice Best TV Actor award. His performance also received the Best TV actor award at the 2020 PISA.
4. Bin Roye
Saeed played a pivotal role in the Pakistani romantic drama, Bin Roye, released in 2015. He portrayed the character of Irtiza, a successful businessman who is caught in a love triangle with the two main female characters. Working alongside Mahira Khan and Armeena Rana Khan, Saeed’s performance was well received by critics and fans, adding to his already illustrious career in Pakistani TV and cinema.
5. Jawani Phir Nahi Ani
In the 2015 comedy adventure film Jawani Phir Nahi Ani, Saeed played the role of Shereyar, a divorce lawyer who wishes to add excitement to his three friends’ miserable lives. Jawani Phir Nahi Ani became one of the biggest Pakistani films to that date. It was reviewed by critics as scoring full marks on the entertainment metre.
6. Punjab Nahi Jaungi
Saeed played the lead role in the 2017 Pakistani romantic comedy film Punjab Nahi Jaungi. He played Fawad Khagga, a charismatic and wealthy young man from Punjab. The movie revolves around a love story that spans across cultural and social boundaries. Fawad Khagga falls in love with a modern and independent woman named Amal (played by Mehwish Hayat), who hails from a different background and lifestyle.
The film delves into the challenges and humorous situations that arise as a result of the clash between their worlds. The film became a commercial success, and is now the fourth highest grossing Pakistani film, further solidifying Saeed’s position as one of the leading actors in the Pakistani film industry.
