QUETTA:

Federal Secretary of Communications and Chairman of the National Highway Authority (NHA), Captain (retd) Muhammad Khurram Agha, has taken proactive measures to restore traffic on the roads affected by recent heavy rains and floods in Balochistan.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, he directed the early restoration of traffic on the affected road portions and emphasized the need for close coordination with provincial and local authorities to address the challenging conditions in the province.

In response to the situation, the NHA chairman, at the behest of Federal Minister for Communications Asad Mehmood, conducted a thorough assessment of the condition of motorways and national highways impacted by the heavy rainfall and subsequent floods in Balochistan.

During the visit, NHA officials based in Quetta provided a comprehensive briefing to Captain (retd) Muhammad Khurram Agha, focusing on areas severely affected by the floods, such as Pinjar Bridge, Hub Bridge, Wangu, Qila Saifullah, and Khuzdar.

Work on the construction of Hub Bridge had been suspended temporarily to allow for the safe release of floodwaters.
