RAWALPINDI:

A Rawalpindi police team claim to have successfully recovered an abducted student while busting a kidnapping gang whose members had demanded a ransom of Rs20 million for his release.

The police also arrested the main accused.

According to sources, the accused planned the kidnapping in connivance with the friends of the student who is currently studying at the intermediate level.

The police were carrying out raids to arrest the three accomplices of the main accused.

On the other hand, the parents of the recovered student rejoiced in the safe recovery of their son besides expressing their gratitude to the Rawalpindi police for their efforts.

Rawalpindi City Police Officer (CPO) Khalid Hamdani while holding a press conference alongside SSP Operations Faisal Saleem, father of the recovered student Imranul Hassan and the victim’s mother, said the abductee’s father had registered a case in Saddar Baroni police station.

The CPO said that the complainant, in his statement, said: “I am a resident of Askari 14.

My 19-year-old son Haseebul Hassan, a student in his second year, went along with his friend, Yahya, to attend the birthday of their friend Shahmir at his place in Gulshanabad.” He further stated that after the birthday party when his son was coming home on a motorcycle with his friend Maaz, four people aged about 35-40 years, who were travelling in a car, intercepted their bike and forcibly threw Haseeb into the car while Maaz managed to run away from the spot.

“After some time, an unknown person called from Haseeb’s WhatsApp number and informed me that they kidnapped my son and threatened to arrange Rs20 million if I wanted my son to live.” Delving into the details of the case, the CPO said considering it a high-profile case, a high-level police team was formed under his supervision, which included SSP Operation Faisal Saleem, SP Saddar Nabil Khokhar, ASP Saddar, SHO Saddar Beroni and an IT expert.
