A director of the Public Service Commission (PSC) was killed in a firing incident on Peshawar’s Ring Road on Monday.

The director of the examination department, Irshad Khan, who was on his way from Charsadda to Peshawar for duty, fell victim to a heinous attack near Duranpur. His driver also lost his life in the ruthless assault.

According to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Police, Irshad Khan, the son of Hamdullah Sakna, was traveling in his official motorcar when he was targeted and killed by unidentified assailants.

The area police responded to the incident upon receiving information and secured the deceased’s body for further investigation.

Initial inquiries into the matter have commenced, and investigators have collected two bullet casings from a 30-bore pistol, along with other crucial evidence, from the scene.

The police assured that a case would be registered once the medico-legal formalities are completed and coordination with the deceased’s family is established, adding that they are tirelessly working to identify and apprehend the perpetrators responsible for this senseless act of violence.

The distressing incident is not an isolated one, as it adds to a distressing trend of targeted attacks in Peshawar district in recent days.
