Teacher killed, five injured in Dir clash
A tragic incident unfolded in the scenic Kamrani Mountain of Dir Lower district, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), as two groups clashed over ownership, resulting in the death of a primary schoolteacher (PST) and leaving at least five people injured.
The clash erupted when a group from Shamshi Khan Village, who were attempting to establish boundaries on the disputed mountain, were ambushed by a rival party on their way back.
PST Numan Haider lost his life in the confrontation, while the injured were swiftly taken to a local hospital, where their conditions have stabilized.
In response to the teacher’s death, local residents placed his body on the main road connecting five districts and blocked all vehicular traffic for a protest demanding the arrest of the perpetrators. This demonstration caused significant inconvenience to travelers, and the local administration faced challenges in reopening the road.
The deceased teacher, Numan Haider, had recently married and held an MPhill degree in Botany from Peshawar University, according to a local resident.
The incident has sparked outrage and concern within the community.
The police have registered an FIR in the case, with 10 individuals being named as suspects. Investigations into the matter have commenced as the authorities seek to bring those responsible to justice.
