In an unexpected turn of events, social media sensation Jannat Mirza opened up about how veteran filmmaker Syed Noor was a pivotal part in her securing a role in his film. During an appearance on the popular morning show Good Morning Pakistan, hosted by Nida Yasir, Jannat candidly shared the intriguing tale of how she was introduced to the filmmaking legend and the journey that led her to accept the role.
The young content creator, who gained massive fame on social media platforms for her creative and engaging videos, revealed that prior to the encounter, she had no idea who Syed Noor was. She narrated the incident, saying, "I got a call from his manager, Azhar. He called and said, 'This is Syed Noor's manager.' I'll tell you the truth - Noor uncle, this isn't a thing - but I didn't know who Noor uncle is. I said, 'I don't know who that is.'"
Undeterred by her lack of familiarity with the filmmaker's illustrious career, Syed Noor took the matter into his own hands. He took the phone from his manager and directly spoke to Jannat, asking if she knew who he was. Jannat admitted, "No, I don't know you." Understanding the situation, Syed Noor then suggested, "Okay, go do a quick Google search and call me back."
Jannat followed his advice and researched his accomplishments in the Pakistani film industry. To validate the information, she turned to her parents, and her parents confirmed that it was indeed the esteemed filmmaker on the other end of the call. Filled with newfound awareness, she called Syed Noor back, apologizing for her earlier unawareness and expressing her gratitude for the opportunity. "I went, I searched, and I asked my parents if it was true, and my mother said that it was," explained Jannat. "Then I called him back and said, 'I am so sorry, I didn't know about you, but now I do.'"
Nida, too, was intrigued by Jannat's confession and inquired if she was acquainted with Pakistani dramas and films. Jannat revealed, "I haven't watched Pakistani films, he's done the old ones." Despite her excitement at the prospect of working in the film, Jannat knew that her family might not consent to such a career move. However, Syed Noor's determination to cast her in the movie prompted her to discuss the matter with her parents.
Jannat revealed, "He said, 'We're making a film, we want to work with you.' I knew my family would not agree. My parents would not agree, no matter what. Making videos at home is one thing, but going out amongst many people is different. I told him that my parents would not agree. I asked. He said, 'Okay, they're not agreeing? Let me talk to them.' I made him talk to my parents, and they said we cannot do this. Then he called me and said, 'Saima and I are coming to your place. To meet your parents.'"
Undeterred by the initial refusal, the film director took it upon himself to meet Jannat's parents in person and assuage their concerns. He arrived at their home, accompanied by his entire team, and spoke passionately about his commitment to treating Jannat like his own daughter throughout the filmmaking process. He assured them that the film would not include any scenes that would upset them.
Recounting the pivotal moment, Jannat shared, "He came, talked to my family, and his entire team was with him. He said, 'Think of Jannat as my own daughter. The film won't have any dance, or any scene that upsets you. I will make her work as I would make my daughter work.' That's when my parents were convinced."
