RAWALPINDI:

A tragic accident occurred on GT Road near Sawan Bridge in Rawalpindi on Monday, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to four other persons.

According to sources, the incident involved a truck carrying a load of cement bags, which went out of control and collided with several vehicles.

The accident took place on Monday morning, during a time when a portion of the Sawan Bridge route from Rawat to Rawalpindi was closed due to previous structural issues. As a result, traffic going to and from kachehri to Rawat was diverted to a single track.

Eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver was heading from kachehri Chowk to Rawat when he lost control near the UNO and DHA roundabout.

Despite efforts by traffic wardens to stop the out-of-control truck, it continued at a high speed towards the bridge, crashing into vehicles along the way.

Tragically, the accident led to the death of a 40-year-old man identified as Muneer Jameel from Gujarkhan. Additionally, four others were seriously injured, including a woman whose identity is yet to be determined.

The injured include 23-year-old Ramish, 27-year-old Omer, and 61-year-old Masood, with two of them reported to be in critical condition.
