Nine relief camps set up along Sutlej
Deputy Commissioner Zaheer Anwar Jappa announced on Monday that nine flood relief camps have been established in the Bahawalpur district to deal with any flood situation.
Rescue 1122 staff has been deployed and required machinery provided at the relief camps.
The deputy commissioner said the flood relief camps had been set up at Patan Mangwani, Basti Lala Dera, Mari Qasim Shah, Jalalabad Sama Satta, Jhalanwali, Bet Shukarani, Boharwali, Pulah Mari and Israni along the Sutlej river bank.
The official said there was a capacity of 300,000 cusecs of water at Head Islam Hasilpur. At present, 18,695 cusecs of water is passing through Head Islam.
The deputy commissioner said there currently was no risk of flood in Bahawalpur district. The district administration had completed the safety measures to deal with any untoward situation, he added.
Meanwhile, South Punjab Specialised Healthcare Secretary Afzal Nasir reviewed the facilities at local Farmers Facilitation Centres.
