Kalakot police apprehended Gibran, the son of Lyari gang war ringleader Abdul Rehman Dacait, during a routine snap-checking. The police discovered various items including improvised explosive devices, bomb-making equipment, and batteries, in his possession.
Following the arrest, a case was registered against Gibran. Promptly, the police contacted the bomb disposal unit, which successfully defused the improvised explosive device.
SSP City Arif Aziz stated that Gibran, the captured suspect, had been wanted by the police for his involvement in multiple serious crimes, including murders, attempted murders, and encounters with law enforcement.
Aziz also mentioned that further investigations were underway regarding the recovered explosive device. It is worth noting that Rehman Dacoit, the leader of the Lyari gang war, was killed, along with three other associates, during a police encounter in the Bin Qasim area of Steel Town on August 9, 2009, when Aslam Chaudhry Sheen was serving as SSP Investigation East.
