Sony's $90 PS5 accessibility controller to arrive on December 6

Sony's Access controller to be released on December 6th for $90, which provides various exciting features for players

Sony has revealed the date when its PlaySation 5 players can purchase the new accessibility-focused controller, along with its price.

Available worldwide on December 6, the Access controller will cost $90, while preorders will begin July 21.

The highly customisable controller will have four 3.5mm aux ports which help players connect external buttons, switches and other accessories.

The box will also contain 19 button caps and three stick caps so users can find the best configuration. Sony has additionally, added 23 swappable button cap tags to help players identify which input they map to each button.

PlayStation 5 players will be able to set up, up to 30 profiles for Access controller with different button mappings and stick settings for each. Players can disable certain buttons to prevent accidental pressin and toggle commands on or off.

The company had previously revealed that its users would be able to pair up to two Access controllers and one DualSense together to create a "single virtual controller," which would mean that two or three people could control the same character.

Sony Interactive Entertainment's Brand, Hardware and Peripherals vice-president, Isabelle Tomatis, wrote in a blog post that Sony had been working on the controller for five years with the help of accessibility organizations and experts. The company had aimed to develop a kit that "enables gamers with disabilities to play more comfortably and for longer periods, empowering more players to share in the joy of gaming."
