In an exclusive interview with a local news channel, renowned actor Javeria Saud opened up about her experience working on the highly acclaimed drama serial Baby Baji, and the overwhelming response it has received from audiences worldwide. Javeria, who portrays the central character of Azra, expressed her excitement and satisfaction with the show's success, sharing her insights and the behind-the-scenes journey.
Reflecting on her initial impressions of the show, Javeria revealed, "I really liked the story when I heard the one-liner. Tehseen Khan, our director, and Adeel Suri came and narrated the story, and I really liked it. When I read the script, I recalled some things. The character was about to be a hit because situational comedy - which isn't actual comedy, you can't call it physical comedy, and it's not over the top either - it's with dialogues and situations. I thought that this is a very fun character. Mansoor wrote it very well."
Javeria went on to emphasise the impact of portraying a unique character like Azra, stating, "I thought that if I do this, after a very long time - because the character you do impacts you - you become fresh. A person has all kinds of feelings inside. A soft-spoken person wants to scream. Things that we don't do in real life, but when we get to do those things, that feeling, because it existed internally, externalising it is great fun. We don't do such things often, but doing that through a character refreshes you and helps you enhance your acting."
Speaking about her expectations for the show, Javeria expressed her confidence in its success. "I had [high] expectations from the whole serial. The story, the way the characters were written, the shoot, our team, artists, and crew, their hard work, and the familial environment - because to work well, you must have a great atmosphere - and more than anything, people had clean intentions," she stated.
The talented star's expectations were surpassed as Baby Baji resonated with viewers far beyond her imagination. Javeria said, "I thought the serial would be a mega-hit, and it exceeded those expectations. As far as my character was concerned, I felt that Azra is about to penetrate the audience's homes, and everyone would be looking at their own family's Azra while watching the drama, voicing similarities. I thought the character would be a hit, but it was even bigger than that. I was expecting that women would come to me and tell me this, but men, the youth, children, older people, younger people, all come to me and tell me I've done an excellent job."
The actor also shared delightful anecdotes of the appreciation she has received from fans, illustrating the impact the show has had on a wide range of viewers. "I was in the shopping mall yesterday when a middle-aged gentleman called out to me in a heavy voice, 'Oh, what a great job you have done!' I turned to look at him, and he said, 'You've done a wonderful job; it's great fun.' Many people meet me and say that they've never watched the show but are watching it now. Many people don't have time, like MNAs, ministers, and doctors from America. Saud and I are getting calls from them, from all over the world. Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram are also filled with praises," she shared.
Baby Baji revolves around the captivating story of Baby Aapa, played by Samina Ahmed, who endeavours to hold her family together after her husband's illness. With four sons, two of whom are married, the family faces challenges following the demise of their father. The narrative delves into the struggles and triumphs of Baby Aapa and her efforts to keep the family united. Munawer Saeed portrays Siddiqui Sahab, the successful businessman and head of the family, who hopes to instil unity among his four sons.
As Baby Baji continues to captivate audiences with its heartfelt storyline and stellar performances, Javeria's portrayal of Azra has undoubtedly left an indelible mark on viewers' hearts. The show's success not only confirms the talent and dedication of the entire cast and crew but also reaffirms the power of relatable storytelling to touch the lives of audiences across the globe.
