MIRANSHAH/ BAJAUR:

In a disturbing incident, yet another police officer lost his life, and three others sustained critical injuries during an attack by unidentified terrorists on newly established check posts in the Faqiran Masjid area of Mir Ali Tehsil, North Waziristan tribal district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P).

The attack took place around midnight on Monday, when the miscreants surrounded multiple check posts and unleashed a barrage of light and heavy weapons.

According to police officials, the terrorists engaged in a fierce exchange of fire with security forces, resulting in four policemen being wounded. The injured officers were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital, but unfortunately, Constable Mohsin Azam succumbed to his injuries. Two other policemen remain in critical condition, identified as Saghar Hussain, Noor Gul, and Sameen.

Law enforcement authorities managed to repel the attack, forcing the assailants to retreat. The miscreants fled the scene after encountering strong resistance from the police and security forces.

The funeral prayers for the slain constable, Mohsin Azam, were held at the police lines in Mir Ali. The somber ceremony was attended by police officials, district administration officers, and army personnel, paying their respects to the fallen officer.

In a separate incident in Bajaur tribal district, tribal elder Malik Khan Zaman was fatally shot in what appears to be another targeted attack. Khan Zaman sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Khar Hospital, where he passed away.

Police have registered a First Information Report (FIR) against the unidentified attackers and initiated an investigation into the case.
